Call or come in to register for a course!

Once you have signed up...

Step 1: SSI Registration and Home Study

All of the required reading is uploaded into your personal SSI student account that you will create. To create your student account you can go to divessi.com or download SSI App on any device, choose "create student account", then follow the prompts; making sure you have completed all the information including uploading a profile picture of yourself, adding your address and choosing "Sonoma Coast Divers" as your local dive center. Once you have signed up for your Open Water Course, we will load your Open Water Course materials onto your account. The online course takes 6-8 hours to read and complete the 6 chapter review sections. *Please make sure you "sync" your account each time you are done working on a device for that period of time.

Step 2:
Plan on scheduling a time to come into Sonoma Coast Divers at least one week prior to the start of your course for a 1 to 2 hour orientation and equipment fitting. If you have any of your own personal equipment you plan on using, you must bring it in at orientation to be checked over.

Step 3: About a week prior to your course you will get an email from your instructor with your paperwork. Please make sure to read over all the directions they send you with that paperwork, especially the medical form. Keeping mind that if you say "yes" to anything on that medical form you will also need to have your doctor complete a medical release prior to you starting your pool work.

Step 4: Pool & Classroom
Rohnert Park

Classroom and pool sessions Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9:45am on Saturday and 9 am with the pool session in the afternoon usually ending by 5:00pm.

The ocean dives are conducted the following weekend on either the North Coast or in Monterey.
Napa

Pool and classroom sessions are held Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am to 4pm all at the Napa College.

The ocean dives are conducted the following weekend on the North Coast or in Monterey.

Step 5:

Ocean Dives will meet at the coast between 8 am and 9 am. You will complete at least 2 dives per day and finish between 12 pm and 2 pm in the afternoon. Schedules may vary a bit depending on the instructor, the number of students, and the day's conditions. If for some reason ocean conditions do not allow us to get in the water, your instructor will make the decision as soon as they can and we will work with you to reschedule your ocean weekend.

Due to staffing and equipment logistics, you may change the dates of your class until three weeks prior to the class start. After that, a $75 rescheduling or cancellation charge will be incurred. Beginning the Monday prior to your class, there are no refunds and no transfers; all tuition paid is forfeit. We are always as flexible as possible, but we do often have long waitlists for classes and the week-of a class we can rarely fill last minute openings.

If you have any questions about the Open Water Diver Course schedule, please feel free to give us a call! (707)-586-0272.
