Nick Bidauretta

SSI Dive Control Specialist

After abalone diving for two years, becoming a scuba diver seemed like the next step in exploring the underwater world and I was certified through Sonoma Coast Divers in 2006. Since then I have spent much of my free time in the ocean; whether free diving or scuba, I am out there enjoying what our coast has to offer.

Since 2011 I have been assisting Tom and the other Instructors with the abalone, open water, and advanced classes taught through the shop. If you take a class with Sonoma Coast Divers you will eventually run into me, whether it’s above or below the surface. I’ve also traveled to a few tropical locations and on various weekend trips. While I’m usually thinking of where my next dive trip should be, I always enjoy diving in local waters--even on days when conditions aren’t spectacular.

One of the best aspects of diving is the social interactions that occur at the beach, in the classroom, or at the shop--meeting new people who have the same love of diving as you. Exchanging tales of trips and dives is half of the sport and sharing my passion with others interested is my favorite thing to do. To all who come to the dive shop and want to enter the foreign landscape that is the sea, I say, “Welcome!”
